SEN-SEi and DJ DAVID COLEMAN

In late 1996, Sen-Sei and David Coleman officially joined forces as Kinetic Grooves, a label David Coleman had established with long time friend Joe Krause. The partnership proved to be a perfect blend of talents. Sen-Sei's eclectic keyboards and aggressive stage presence complemented David Coleman's skillful and articulate DJ talent, which had made him one of San Francisco's most important house personas. From 1997 to 1999, the two played a variety of parties and clubs in San Francisco and worked diligently in the studio. In 1999, Sen-Sei enrolled in a school of sound engineering and became a member of the AES (Audio Engineering Society). David Coleman and Sen-Sei volunteered their services at the annual AES convention, where they acquired the information and inspiration they needed to expose their San Francisco sound to the global community. At the seminar, they encountered a member of the Producers Guild, a Dutch man who was versed in the legal aspects of the industry. The gentleman was involved with a company by the name of The Groove Council. As a result of the meeting, The Groove Council became the Executive Producer of Kinetic Groove's first record, KGR #1: "Trans Atlantic Groove Project."

As time elapsed, Kinetic Grooves continued to accumulate studio gear, taking the step up from a home studio to a professional Pro-Tools Mix-Cubed recording studio. The equipment produced a cleaner, more full and spacious sound, and added elements of higher quality post-production and professionalism to the tracks. Kinetic Grooves released their second 12-inch, "SF House 2000 E.P.," in December 2000. Sen-Sei and David Coleman brought out the big guns for their third release: KGR #3, titled "Themes," which features "The Bomb" and "The Wicked Track," came out in October 2001.

In addition to keeping busy with their own label, the talented team collaborated with other heavy weights in the dance music community to release a variety of quality records. David Coleman and Sen-Sei produced "The Grind" for Second Sunday's New Rip Records, which was released with great acclaim at the 2000 Winter Music Conference. Next, they collaborated with DJ Dano on the successful Red Melon Project, producing "Shack Attack," which features the track "Something Wonderful." Sen-Sei and David Coleman teamed up again with DJ Dano and also with DJ Halo to produce "Cloud City," another track for the Red Melon Project. "Keep on Movin'," a song they produced for San Francisco's Jah Love Recordings, was so successful that the label commissioned the team to remix the B-side, "Teque," for Jah Love 003, the third 12-inch. The Jah Love remix was released in September 2001. Sen-Sei continued his relationship with DJ Halo and lent his musical talents to the debut of Halo's label, Bluëm Recordings. He also contributed to the remix double pack of Nigel Hayes' "Que Pasa." Most recently the duo finished a song by the name of "Geronimo" for Big Chief Records in New York, an internal label of Syntax Distribution. This track, backed by a Red Moon remix, will hit the stores just in time for summer. David Coleman and Sen-Sei are also in the process of "crowd-testing" their remix of "The Wicked Track" from KG#3, which will be released on Deep Dish's new label, Shinichi.

Kinetic Grooves cultivated more quality music by forming different partnerships and spawning the subsidiary labels Shack Traxx, L.A. Sessions, and Bonfire Music. David Coleman and Sen-Sei worked with DJ John Howard and DJ LeLe to create Shack Traxx. Next, they expanded their studio operations to Los Angeles and teamed up with DJ/ Producers Todd Resnick and Jesse Brookes of Atwater Studios, creating the subsidiary label L.A. Sessions. Sen-Sei, David Coleman, Todd Resnick, and Jesse Brookes make up the Atwater Syndicate, a powerful production team. Finally, the duo joined forces with John Rodriguez to create Bonfire Music, which released the track "Flight to Pompeii." The song was reviewed by Judge Jules in the February 2002 issue of Mixer Magazine and received the highest acclaim: A 10 out of 10! Each of these subsidiary labels is a division of "Kinetic Grooves Presents…" and you can be sure that the quality and diversity of the music will only continue to increase.

In addition to producing individual tracks, David Coleman and Sen-Sei released a compilation of their original work; a mixed CD titled "Groove Traxx." The CD, which came out in early 2000, received favorable reviews in leading magazines on both sides of the Atlantic. Their second CD compilation, due out in October 2002, will be released on Blowfish Music. Both CD compilations feature original music mixed by David Coleman with Sen-Sei's additional live instrumentation. In late 2000, Numark industries, a company that makes mixers and other DJ equipment, recognized the value of the duo and began equipping David Coleman and Sen-Sei with their unreleased product line of mixers and CD players. Sen-Sei and David Coleman demonstrated the new tools in the Numark product line at the LA NAMM in 2001.

Sen-Sei and David Coleman's incredible live sets earned them an esteemed position in the dance music community and a variety of gigs to showcase their talent and their music. They solidified a relationship with Release-SF, San Francisco's premiere house promoters, and toured with the Release-CROBAR -Mixer National Tour in Fall 2000. The tour led to a bi-monthly main room residency at CROBAR in Miami and Chicago. Sen-Sei and David also hold a residency at "Release-SF," the longest running party in San Francisco, hosted at Club 1015. Their other residencies include CROBAR (Miami, Chicago), 2nd Sundays and Thump Radio events. Thump Radio, the innovative San Francisco group that combines the Internet, FM & XM radio and live events, gave Kinetic Grooves global exposure. David and Sen-Sei's residency at Thump parties lead to a more formal relationship with the group. The duo now run the house department of the radio show and host the Kinetic Grooves House Room at Thump Radio parties.

Sen-Sei and David continue to produce quality music and phenomenal live performances.
